I think it’s been a big week for Google releases.
Start with AI Studio. It’s finally a full-stack development environment, not merely a place to build mockups. Google’s own docs now say it “supports full-stack development, enabling you to build applications that go beyond client-side prototypes,” and the Firebase team announced today that the agent inside it will detect when you need data storage and user identity from the cues in your prompt, then offer to provision Firestore and Firebase Authentication and wire your app’s code to both. A login and a database are the whole distance between a demo and a product, and until now they were the part you did by hand.
Then Stitch. Google upgraded it today as well. It began last May as a Labs experiment that turned interface designs into HTML and CSS, one screen at a time. The new version is built around what Google calls an “AI-native, infinite canvas,” generates up to five screens at once, and includes an MCP tool for handing designs to an external coding agent such as Google’s own Antigravity. It’s still free through Google Labs.
Stitch may just beat Claude Code out of the box for UI/UX. Claude Code is a formidable builder, but visual taste has never been its first virtue, and a tool whose entire purpose is the screen ought to have the advantage there.
Anyone tried Stitch yet?
